JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager of Internal Communications will inspire, shape and deliver the next evolution of internal communication to enhance employee engagement, foster a positive corporate culture, and ensure effective information dissemination across the organisation. You will be a motivated corporate comms professional with extensive experience leading B2B / professional services internal communications and employee engagement programmes.
The ideal candidate will have strong internal communication skills, experience managing intranet platforms and an excellent project management track record. The ability to collaborate with stakeholders of all levels of seniority will be critical to success in this role. As will be being a strategic and trusted advisor, and an experienced manager and mentor.
You will be a well-rounded communications expert, able to advise at senior levels and to lead hands-on interventions that require skill and pace. Your background will reflect a track record of actively gripping multiple projects within a challenging and fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Strategic Leadership: You will develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy which reflects the evolving needs of a complex, global business. As part of this, you will actively shape the evolution of internal comms, ensuring it reflects industry best practice and is responsive to the ongoing needs of the business. You will grip all internal comms challenges - initiating and leading effective solutions with speed and skill.
- Team Leadership: You will manage and mentor a team of talented internal communications professionals – fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment which you will be able to lead by example, including in the up-skilling of team members. This requires active participation in the delivery of a wide-range of internal comms material, from conception to execution. At all stages you will drive excellence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: You will work in step with senior leadership, HR (in particular to boost employee engagement and positive workplace culture), IT, and other departments to ensure cohesive and effective internal communication.
- Content Management: You will oversee and actively guide the creation of high-quality internal comms - collaborating with content creators and stakeholders to ensure the internal communications content is relevant, up-to-date and presented in engaging ways across all channels.
- Analytics and Reporting: You will develop and deploy business-critical insight based on usage and performance metrics – reporting to senior management with a view to deliver a best-in-class internal comms function within Alter Domus.
- Content Innovation: Where appropriate, you will explore, test and deliver new approaches and tools that are able to significantly strengthen internal comms across the business.
- Comms Excellence: You will be a core communications professional within the comms function for Alter Domus. Your insight and experience will support high-quality interventions for the CEO and Board as necessary. You will be able to advise and execute across a full spectrum of comms products, deploying the right blend of senior judgment, delegation and hands-on intervention.
PROFILE
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal communications.
Skills required:
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience managing a suite of internal communications channels, including the intranet, mobile apps, internal social media channels, and other emerging communication and collaboration technologies
- In-depth Knowledge of core internal communications, change management and employee engagement strategies.
- Strong track record of developing and implementing creative content across different media and audiences.
- Excellent leadership skills (i.e., organising, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective management.
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm.
- First-rate comms and diplomatic skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus.
- Proven ability to work effectively with the most senior and challenging audiences.
- Organization skills needed to manage time well, prioritise effectively, and handle multiple competing deadlines, at pace and across multiple programmes.
- Excellent language skills including reading, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary to ensure proper and efficient communication.
- Ability to perceive and analyse problems, and a capacity to make or recommend sound decisions.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
- Strong analytical skills needed for all primary duties of position, including comprehending and communicating data.
- Advanced knowledge of PC applications, including the entire suite of MS Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Advanced knowledge of relevant comms software and tools, including Canva.
