Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Finance Systems is accountable for leading and optimizing the firm’s Enterprise Resource Planning system / SAP S4 HANA. This role will play a key part in supporting the ongoing finance transformation and ensuring the system’s full potential is leveraged to drive organizational growth and efficiency to help Alter Domus achieve its ambitious growth objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development, management and deployment of the ERP roadmap for finance systems ensuring alignment with Alter Domus strategy and business objectives.
  • Take full ownership of ERP system (SAP S4 HANA) across Alter Domus, managing configuration, customization, and deployment to meet business and financial requirements.
  • Ensure the system is fully aligned with organizational goals and is leveraged to its maximum potential.
  • Lead the design and ongoing evolution of the SAP system architecture, ensuring it is scalable, flexible, and future proof.
  • Drive decisions on architecture to optimize for performance, cost-efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee the integration of SAP with other key enterprise systems (e.g., SuccessFactors, CRM, BI tools) to create a cohesive, streamlined, and efficient IT ecosystem.
  • Ensure data flows seamlessly between systems, reducing manual intervention and enhancing real-time reporting capabilities.
  • Support monthly financial close and forecasting processes as well as the annual budget and long-range planning cycles.
  • Provide input and oversight of internal processes with respect to SAP ERP master data, hierarchies, and reporting.
  • Implement best practices for data governance within SAP ERP, ensuring high standards of data quality, accuracy, and integrity across financial operations. Define and monitor KPIs to ensure data reliability for decision-making purposes.
  • Work closely with IT and functional teams to develop, test, and implement customizations to SAP, where necessary, to meet unique business needs.
  • Lead system upgrades, enhancements, and the adoption of new SAP modules or technologies.
  • Ensure that SAP ERP is secure, compliant with all relevant regulations (e.g., SOX, GDPR), and that appropriate user roles, permissions, and audit controls are in place to protect sensitive financial data.
  • Collaborate with SAP and other external IT vendors, managing service contracts, SLAs, and relationships to ensure timely delivery of system upgrades, patches, and support. Act as the primary point of contact for SAP-related technical issues.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and ensure the continuity of financial operations in case of system failures or other disruptions. Collaborate with IT to ensure data backups and recovery processes are in place and effective.
  • Implement system monitoring tools and practices to proactively identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring system uptime and responsiveness. Coordinate with IT support teams to troubleshoot and address technical issues as they arise.
  • Stay up to date with the latest SAP technologies (e.g., S/4HANA) and industry trends. Assess opportunities to implement cutting-edge technologies, tools, or cloud-based solutions to enhance system capabilities and align with the digital transformation of finance.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and integrations.
  • Partner with Alter Domus Academy Team to develop and deliver training programs for end-users and stakeholders on finance systems.
  • Lead a small Finance Systems Team, ensuring team members maintain appropriate levels of technical competence and compliance with internal operating and control procedures.
  • As a senior leader, you will also be responsible for driving change when necessary, delivering communications and directions to the team in supporting the development and engagement of employees at all levels. 
  • Promote and build Alter Domus' brand and culture both internally and externally, acting as an ambassador and role model to employees, clients, and customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Support the development and engagement of employees at all levels, actively promoting the Employer Value Proposition within all regional teams and role modelling the Alter Domus values to our people, clients and customers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, encouraging employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Drive a culture of compliance and risk control to mitigate financial, operational and reputational risks.
  • Promote ethical business practices, enhancing the company's reputation and social impact and ensuring Alter Domus maintains the highest Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) standards.

PROFILE

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in finance systems management, with a strong focus on SAP ERP.
  • Qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Experience in the financial services or alternative investments industry is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of SAP as an ERP system, with the ability to shape system architecture and manage interfaces with other enterprise systems (e.g. SuccessFactors).
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to understand and resolve finance issues using technology-driven solutions.
  • Proven track record of leading system implementation or transformations, working cross-functionally with senior leaders and teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-growing and dynamic environment, especially in industries that are undergoing rapid digit transformation.
