Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly waterfall and carried interest calculations, along with variance analysis for private equity and real estate funds.
- Read and analyze fund agreements to develop a strong understanding of fund structures and translate these structures into working models for accurate reporting.
- Develop expertise in CapAssure waterfall automation software, creating specifications to automate unique client waterfalls and improve efficiency.
- Analyze fund accounting data and properly configure the CapAssure system based on the specific data requirements of each fund.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support fund administration colleagues and clients on waterfall and software-related inquiries.
- Own the timeline and calendar management for effectively managing client relationships, ensuring timely communication and deliverables.
- Own waterfall onboarding projects and manage associated timelines to ensure successful implementation.
- Able to initially manage 1-2 Analyst or Fund Accountants with potential for further team growth.
- Supervise and mentor a team of Analysts, as well as train new employees and provide direction and help prioritize the work of others.
- Work closely with members of the Financial Control, Client Service, Implementation, and Technology teams to streamline production processes and enhance policies and procedures.
- Provide on-the-job training (OJT) for a team of accounting and financial-reporting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Ensure strong internal and external communications regarding project status, issues, and expectations to maintain transparency and alignment.
- Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client expectations.
- Demonstrate leadership skills by taking initiative in leading projects and providing valuable input to enhance team performance.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant professional accounting and finance experience, including work experience at a fund administrator or an alternative investment firm.
- Experience with fund administration software such as Yardi, Investran, Allvue, or eFront.
- Proven experience in calculating private equity or real estate complex waterfalls including master, feeder and consolidated, JV, open and closed end fund structure.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis techniques.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Deadline-driven with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in providing on-the-job training (OJT) for team members, contributing to their professional growth and development.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in waterfall automation, with a focus on improving processes and reducing manual effort.
- Experience in running waterfall using any Automation tools.
- Familiarity with fund administration software such as Yardi, Investran, Allvue, or eFront.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, VBA, or Python to enhance automation capabilities.
- Experience with reporting tools like SSRS or Power BI to create insightful reports and dashboards.
