SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER (HYPERVISOR, DR)
Internal Grading: Senior Officer
Location: Hyderabad
We are looking for Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Global IT Operations team. The role involves participating in all hypervisor and virtualization infrastructure operations, serving in both execution and coordination capacities with external stakeholders.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Manage VMware environments (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter) including cluster design (HA, DRS, Storage DRS) and VM lifecycle operations
Troubleshoot complex issues (host failures, PSODs, VM performance) and handle infrastructure transformations
Act as escalation point for critical incidents, perform advanced troubleshooting across compute, storage, and network layers
Conduct RCA, lead P1/P2 incident management, and coordinate with vendors (VMware, Dell, Zerto)
Design and manage Dell PowerFlex (SDS) environments, including cluster expansion, upgrades, and performance optimization
Troubleshoot storage issues (I/O bottlenecks, failures) and ensure redundancy and data protection
Design and manage DR solutions using Zerto, including VPG configuration, replication, failover/failback, and DR drills
Ensure RPO/RTO compliance and troubleshoot replication and failover issues
Manage Veeam backup solutions as part of disaster recovery (DR) strategies, ensuring consistent validation, periodic restore testing, and compliance with industry best practices.
Perform capacity planning and optimization across compute, memory, storage, and network
Resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize resource allocation
Lead patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management (ESXi, vCenter, PowerFlex, Zerto) using LCM strategies
Manage firmware/hardware updates with minimal downtime
Automate tasks using PowerCLI, PowerShell, and APIs (VMware, Zerto); support IaC and scripting initiatives
Implement security hardening, RBAC, and ensure compliance with audit and governance standards
Maintain documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and support audits
Mentor L1 engineers, act as SME, and contribute to architecture and infrastructure projects
Manage storage (SAN/NAS, tape, cloud) and monitor capacity/utilization
Support cloud backup (Azure, AWS, S3, Blob) and ensure coverage across virtual (VMware/Hyper-V) and physical environments
YOUR PROFILE:
At least 7-8 years of experience in Infrastructure administration
Strong experience with VMware ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter (advanced level)
Hands-on expertise with Dell EMC PowerFlex (SDS architecture and operations)
Experience managing Disaster Recovery using Zerto
Strong understanding of virtualization networking (vDS, VLANs, NSX preferred)
Good knowledge of SAN/NAS storage and data replication technologies
Experience in DR strategies and high-availability architecture
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server and intermediate Linux administration
Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerCLI and PowerShell
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex infrastructure issues
Experience handling major incidents and enterprise-scale environments
Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities
