JOB DESCRIPTION:
At Alter Domus, we are looking for a Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer who gets things done. Someone who rolls up their sleeves, digs into complex infrastructure problems, and owns them through to resolution. You will be part of a team operating mission-critical environments in the financial services sector where uptime, speed, and precision are non-negotiable.
This is a hands-on role. You will be troubleshooting, building, improving, and maintaining infrastructure day to day, working under pressure, adapting quickly to change, and taking full ownership of the platforms you touch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and continuously improve on-premises and cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure incidents quickly and effectively, you are the person who finds the root cause and fixes it.
- Implement infrastructure changes, upgrades, and improvements following change management processes in a regulated environment.
- Build and maintain hybrid cloud connectivity between datacenters and cloud platforms.
- Configure and manage high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms, ensuring RTO/RPO targets are always met.
- Manage and improve Citrix, VMware virtualisation environments, SAN/NAS storage, and backup/recovery platforms.
- Work with container platforms: deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift workloads.
- Enforce security controls across infrastructure - network segmentation, Zero Trust, IAM, PAM, MFA and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using scripting and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Monitor infrastructure health, respond to alerts, and drive proactive capacity and performance improvements.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to implement technical requirements correctly and on time.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing enterprise infrastructure in production environments.
- Proven experience working in mission-critical, high-availability environments - financial services or similarly regulated sectors a strong plus.
- Strong practical experience with AWS infrastructure: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, CloudWatch you have built and fixed things there, not just read about them.
- Solid working knowledge of Azure and familiarity with GCP.
- Heavy hands-on experience with Citrix distributed environments, Nutanix HCI and VMware vSphere/ESXi.
- Working knowledge of networking: VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, VPN, and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience managing Active Directory, Entra ID, IAM, PAM, SSO, and MFA.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and make sound decisions fast.
- Good-to-have scripting and automation: Bash, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent hands-on background.
Nice to Have
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional or Azure Administrator certification.
- Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or VMware VCP.
- Kubernetes CKA certification.
- Experience with monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices applied in a real operational context.
- Exposure to AIOps or AI-assisted monitoring tools.
- Experience with DORA or GDPR compliance requirements.
Your Profile
- Action-oriented - you don't wait to be told twice and you follow through. You see something to improve, get your hands on it.
- Calm under pressure, with good judgement in high-stakes situations.
- Methodical but fast - you think before you act, but you act decisively.
- Clear communicator, able to report status and progress to technical peers and managers alike.
- Team player who shares knowledge and supports colleagues when things get tough.
Comfortable with change - you adapt quickly when priorities shift.
